Port Blair, June 22: The Merchant Navy Officers Association (MNOA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands distributed 100 Ration Relief kits to needy families in areas like Anarkali, Shoalbay-8, Papita Pahad, Wright Myo, Malapuram, Mannarghat, Haddo, Dignabad, Ograbrunj, Namunaghar, Hathi Tapu, Dandus Point, Coffee Bageecha and Round Basti Areas. In the campaign Mr. Shamim, Cable Operator, Nimbu Bageecha had come forward to reach the ration kits to the entitled beneficiaries.

Port Blair, June 22: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per the data received from Health Department, a total of 1, 40, 902 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. A total of 2,704 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands while the number of eligible people vaccinated in the age group of 18 to 44 years stands at 20, 803 in isles.

Port Blair, June 22: The Hindu Rashtra Shakti (HRS) distributed more ration kits to needy families affected by the COVID-19 induced lockdown today. Shri Amar Kumar Singh, National Secretary, Shri Rakeshwar Lall, State President, Shri Angshuman Roy, State General Secretary (Youth) and Shri P V Robinpalani Swamy, State President (Sanik Wing) distributed ration items, sanitizers and facemasks to needy families in Pongichaung, Dollgunj, Babulane where students of JNRM belonging to Little Andaman (Ranchi community), Round Basti, Calicut etc.

Responding to the news report captioned “NUSI Alleges Violation of Rules and Act of Favoritism  by Crew Cell of Directorate of Shipping Services, Demands Enquiry” published on 20.06.2021 in Andaman Chronicle, the Director of Shipping Services in a written communication has informed the Editor that “The matter as mentioned in the News article was examined in detail and the assumptions have been found to be totally fallacious as brought out by NUSI and require to be denounced aptly. It is construed to be a conjecture and without facts, repeatedly made by the Union to malign the efficacy of the Crew Cell of the Directorate which is a continued effort by NUSI”.

103 ILI/SARI Cases Detected by Field Staffs After a Two-day Combing Operation

Port Blair, June 21: The entire villages under Little Andaman were declared as containment zone after the sudden surge in COVID positive cases in the Island. In order to contain further spread of virus, the District Administration has taken various proactive steps.

As many as 127 staffs from various departments have been engaged for field surveillance, who are involved in conducting door to door survey and collecting information regarding the health status. Two teams consisting of 17 staffs have also been formed who are acting as Supervisors and Coordinators for collecting the information from the field staffs, for providing medical guidance, medicines and other required help/guidance to the public.
