Mayabunder, Sept. 12: In a concerted effort to enforce the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA)-2003, the Revenue Officials from the District Administration of North & Middle Andaman conducted a thorough inspection of various shops and establishments across the district. The inspections aimed to ensure that all vendors and businesses are adhering to the rules and regulations outlined in the COTPA Act-2003, specifically concerning the sale and display of tobacco products.

Port Blair, Sept. 12: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a short term skill development training program on ‘Handicrafts (Coconut Shell & Wooden) products’ at Gram Panchayat, Mannarghat from Aug.21, 2024. Altogether, 25 candidates including SHG members participated in the training program and were imparted basic skills and knowledge in making handicrafts, thus creating self-employment opportunities and avenues for their livelihood.

Port Blair, Sept. 13: The Selection Trial for forthcoming 25th Sub-Junior National Rowing Championship and 44th Junior & 7th Inter-State Challenger National Rowing Championship which was earlier scheduled on September 07 at SAI Water Sports Complex has been postponed and rescheduled to September 17 due to "Administrative Reasons".

I deeply condole the sudden demise of Comrade Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary, CPI (M) who passed away on 12.09.2024 afternoon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi where he was undergoing treatment for respiratory tract infections. He was 72 years. Com. Sitaram Yechury was a Marxist Theoretician as well as a practical leader who led the CPI (M) during the difficult period of the party. It was Comrade Sitaram Yechury along with Com. Prakash Karat who tried to clearly guide the CPI (M) leaders and cadres on the theoretical issues confronting the Communist movement world over following the collapse of USSR and East European socialist countries in the early 1990s.  Com.Sitaram Yechury was a towering personality and one of the most respected leaders in Indian politics. His sudden demise is a great loss not only to the Communist movement but also to all the secular & democratic forces in the country.  His courage and dedication to the cause of Left movement will inspire generations to come.
