Port Blair, April 29: The Indian Coast Guard in yet another successful Search and Rescue operation at Sea has located missing Tamil Nadu fishing boat Mercedes in a massive search operation launched since 24 Apr 21 at a distance of about 1100 kms (590 miles) from Goa. The fishing boat had sailed for Deep Sea fishing on 06 Apr 21 with 11 crew onboard West of Kerala for 30 days voyage from Thengapattnam Fishing harbour in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Fisheries authorities on 24 Apr 21 intimated regarding sighting of debris by other fishing boats operating in the area presuming the fishing boat Mercedes to be sunk.

Port Blair, April 28: In order to prevent the further spread of infections, the District Magistrate, South Andaman District has order closure of all religious and places of worship w.e.f. 30th April 2021.
As per the order no. 594, all religious places/ places of worship shall be closed for public worship. Further religious congregations/ gatherings are strictly prohibited. Any person/ organisation violating the above directions shall be liable to be fined to the tune of Rs. 10,000/-, which shall be payable by the Management Committee.

Humane Touch and Nai Manzil NGO in association with District Administration & PHC wimberly Gunj organized COVID-19 Vaccination Drive at Crescent Hostel Nayapuram Village on 28th April 2021 at 3:30pm with the aim to burst the myths surrounding COVID-19 vaccine and to promote Vaccination amongst the age group of 45 and above.

Port Blair, April 29: Owing to the re-scheduling of summer vacation by the Department of Education from 01st May 2021 vide its O/o No. 994 dated 28th April, 2021, the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association has requested the A & N Administration to make necessary measures for Bus services and Boat services from various stations of North & Middle Andaman, Southern Group of Islands and Hut Bay, as a special case, to ensure safe movement of teachers to Port Blair and vice versa.

Distribution of PDS items for the month of May & June to be given at one go
Port Blair, April 29: In the wake of upward surge in COVID cases, the UT Administration has decided to distribute PDS item to all PDS beneficiaries for two months in one go (May & June, 2021). In addition to this, as per the directions of the Government of India under PMGKAY, all NFSA beneficiaries i.e. PHH & AAY households shall also be distributed Rice @ 5 kg per person per month for two months (May & June, 2021) free of cost in one installment w.e.f 1st May, 2021.
