Challans to the Tune of Rs. 25,000/- Issued to Many Shopkeepers

Port Blair, April 27: The District Administration in its efforts to fight COVID -19 has been enforcing Covid protocols to prevent the surge of positive cases and its spread in the South Andaman District.

In congruence with this, the South Andaman District Administration carried out crack down on shops which were violating COVID appropriate behaviour and guidelines and consequently sealed 17 shops and 01 bar. Challans to the tune of Rs.25,000/- were also issued to many shopkeepers for not maintaining social distance, not having thermal scanner and sanitizers in shops.

Port Blair, April 27: The Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health), A&N Administration, Dr. V. Candavelou has appealed to the people of the Islands to join the mass movement against COVID-19 and said, “this global pandemic can only be fought with the cooperation of all citizens”. Addressing a press conference held in the conference hall of IP&T here today, Dr. Candavelou said that we are in a critical stage in the second wave of corona. During the last wave with the active co-operation of general public we were able to overcome the pandemic situation. It has been observed that despite several proactive steps taken by the Administration, the COVID cases are increasing. To combat this challenging situation, the A&N Administration, District Administration, the Health Department and other stakeholders are working in unison to control the surge of the cases in these Islands.

Port Blair, April 27: The health teams designated in various vaccination centres spread across the Islands are vaccinating all the beneficiaries above 45+ of age who visit the centres on a daily basis. The vaccination sessions are continuing in more than 88 designated vaccination centres set up in different parts of the Islands towards the fight against Corona virus. 1433 doses of vaccines were administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams today (April, 27), taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 1,04,198.
