Port Blair, April 26: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to consider for extension of validity period of RT-PCR report for 72 hours in place of 48 hours for the inbound passengers coming from mainland since the inbound passengers are unable to get RT-PCR report at mainland having validity of 48 hrs for their journey to Port Blair.

People Urged to Restrict Their Movements

Port Blair, April 26: The Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while briefing the media persons in the conference hall of IP&T today informed that massive surge in COVID cases all over the country is a matter of great concern. However, the A&N Administration is effectively handling the COVID situation by keeping the COVID positive cases under control in the Islands, the Secretary said, adding despite putting best efforts, so far, the cases has not reduced as expected.

Port Blair, April 26: 2077 doses of COVISHIELD vaccines were administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams today (April, 26), taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 1,02,765. The health teams designated in various vaccination centres spread across the Islands are vaccinating all the beneficiaries above 45+ of age. The vaccination sessions are continuing in more than 88 designated vaccination centres set up in different parts of the Islands towards the fight against Corona virus in A& Islands.

Port Blair, April 26: In order to enforce strict compliance of the National Directives on COVID-19 in South Andaman District and to prevent further spread of infection, the District Magistrate South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS has issued an Order No. 580 stating that the movement of passenger convoys in the Andaman Trunk Road for transit to N&M Andaman District stands suspended with effect from 28th April 2021 until further order except for emergency cases and essential services/ supplies.
