Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccination to be Administered from 13th Feb

Port Blair, Feb 10: The State Steering Committee meeting on COVID19 vaccination was held under the chairman of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Chetan B Sanghi, IAS in the conference hall of the Secretariat on 09.02.2021. The meeting was also attended by Shri. Jitendra Narain, IAS, Principal Secretary (Home), Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS Principal Secretary (Finance), Dr. V Candavelou, IAS, Commissioner Cum Secretary (Health), Shri S.K. Jain IPS, IGP (Headquarter), other secretaries of A&N Administration, Officials of Health Dept and representative from ANC.

Port Blair, Feb 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma is holding a Webinar through virtual mode on the occasion of Road Safety month on 11th February, 2021 at 10 AM for the youths and school students of the Islands. The idea is to make aware about the traffic rules, which will benefit to safe guard themselves.

Port Blair, Feb 9: On 6th Feb 2021, an information was received at PS Swaraj Dweep regarding sighting of an unidentified dead body at Vijay Nagar Beach, Swaraj Dweep. Upon this, an investigation into the death was launched and the deceased was identified as Saw Kevin S/o. Saw Francis (30) yrs, who worked as a boat operator at Dive India.

Port Blair, Feb 10: It is observed that several cable television operators have tied their cable TV wires/cables to electricity poles of the Electricity Department unauthorisedly. Knotting the cables to electricity poles unauthorisely / improperly, not only is violating Indian Electricity Rules, but also compromising on safety and the danger to life on account of the haphazard pulling of wires over electric poles. The cable TV wires/cables are also being tied on the electricity poles causing hindrance to the staff in carrying out the work on electric poles. Moreover, any accident can occur to the cable TV operators who are not authorized to climb the electric poles.

Port Blair, Feb 9: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to allow the Islanders coming back to Port Blair from different part of the country viz. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, UP, Bihar etc. to undergo RT-PCR test of COVID-19 at Airport, Port Blair as was practiced earlier. The Islanders are facing tremendous hardship to get RT-PCR test report from the designated labs in mainland within 48 hrs of their journey, which is also highly expensive.
