Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 28: The Centre of India Trade Unions, A & N Islands and Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association will observe the 42nd Death Anniversary of Comrade PKS Prasad, Veteran Trade Union leader of these islands on 29.01.2025 at Crusade House premise. Leaders from various Unions and Associations shall pay their tribute and lay wreaths on the martyr’s column. A remembrance meeting will be held which will be addressed by various leaders to remember the valuable contributions of Com. PKS Prasad towards the workers and govt. employees of these islands.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 28: The 92nd Half-yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Sri Vijaya Puram was held today in the Conference Hall of Secretariat. Secretary (Official Language), A&N Administration, Ms Richa presided over the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Secretary (Official Language), said that the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs is quite serious in Implementation of Official Language Policy in Central Government Offices.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 27: Impressive parade, colourful cultural programme, presentation of Medals and Lt. Governor's Commendation Certificates marked the 76th Republic Day celebration in A&N Islands yesterday. The main function for the Republic Day was held at the Marina Park road stretch wherein the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) unfurled the National Flag. The function was attended by the First Lady of the Islands, Smt. Chitra Joshi, CINCAN, Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, DGP, Shri H.G.S Dhaliwal, IPS, Senior Officers of Defence & Civil Administration, public representatives and general public.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 28: The beneficiaries in respect of Old Age, Destitute, Widow and Handicapped pensioners who are receiving pensions from Social Welfare Department and who have not yet submitted their Life Certificates have been requested to submit their Life Certificate to the concerned Anganwadi Workers/Mukhya Sevika by Jan. 31. Failing to do so, may lead to stopping of financial assistance, as Life Certificate is a mandatory document to verify the continued eligibility of beneficiaries.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 25: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu graced and addressed the 15th National Voters’ Day celebrations in New Delhi today. The President presented the Best Electoral Practices Awards to State and District Officials, who demonstrated exemplary performance in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections.

Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Returning Officer/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and District Election Officer, South Andaman, A&N Islands has bagged the ‘Best Electoral Practices Award, 2024-25’ for his exemplary execution of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
