Port Blair, July 2: CPI (M) has urged the Government of India to create a separate State Civil Services for Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the pattern of Puducherry and Goa State Civil Services.  In the Memorandum submitted to the Home Secretary, Government of India during his recent visit to Delhi, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee stated that at present, the officers belonging to Delhi & Andaman & Nicobar Civil Services (DANICS), selected through Civil Services Examination of UPSC, are posted to Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the Ministry of Home Affairs.  These officers in turn are posted to various departments/ Secretariat by the Lt Governor.  Almost all such DANICS Officers belong to outside Andaman and Nicobar Islands as none of the local candidates get selected through the toughest competitive examination of UPSC. 

Port Blair, July 2: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to review the allotment of vacant Government Quarters and construct new triple-story government quarters in the place of old/unoccupied government quarters so that more and more government servants in need of government accommodation can get quarters allotted in their names.

Port Blair, July 2: As part of World Environment Day celebrations, a “Swachhata Pakhwada-2023” was conducted by Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC). The event kick started with a “Mass Swachhta Shramdan Campaign” by personnel of ANC at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep from 25th Jun to 30 Jun 23 to foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Port Blair, July 2: Upon hearing the news on the suggestion of NIA to shift top gangsters of India to Andaman, the Hindu Rashtra Shakti, A&N Islands has raised their objection stating that the decision will adversely affect the society of A&N Islands.
