Port Blair, Feb 5: The officials of Food Safety Department conducted surprise inspection of food business premises located at Shaheed Dweep.  They inspected 26 restaurants, 20 mobile food vendors, 25 fruit & vegetable vendors, 08 sweet stalls, 10 grocery shops, 01 bake house and 01 milk chilling centre. Major and minor violations were noticed at 03 premises and accordingly, a case has been registered against FBOs and others were served with improvement notices with directions to rectify the defects within a fortnight.

Port Blair, Feb 4: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators has called upon the Secretary Tourism, A&N Administration to extend the time frame of RT-PCR Test for the incoming passengers from the present 48 hours to 72 hours.

In a letter the Secretary Tourism, the President AATO, Shri M Vinod that currently, the time limit for RT-PCR test before coming to the islands is within 48 hrs before the departure time for the flight to Port Blair. It is our humble request that the same may be increased to within 72 hours before the departure time for two prime reasons:

Port Blair, Feb 5: Booking of registration marks for Q-Series is available in https://parivahan.gov.in.  Now all the registration marks in R-Series including Fancy Registration marks shall be open for booking w.e.f. 08.02.2021 from 1000 Hrs onwards. If any fancy number is booked by multiple applicant, the process of online open bidding would be commenced from Friday 0830 Hrs to Monday 0830 Hrs.  The bidding amount would be in the multiple of Rs.1000/-.

Port Blair, Feb 4: In a significant step towards realising the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, the Department of Rural Development, A&N Administration has been persistently implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin, the flagship scheme of the Government of India across the Islands. The scheme aims at providing a pucca house with basic amenities inclusive of a hygienic cooking space, functional toilet to the houseless and those living in kutcha houses. Under PMAY-G, beneficiaries are provided unit assistance of Rs.1.2 lakh along with 90 mandays of unskilled labour through convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Additionally, an incentive of Rs.12000/- for construction of toilets through convergence with Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) is also provided to the beneficiaries.
