Port Blair, April 23: The Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Suneel Anchipaka alongwith Shri Hari Kallikkat, SDM (SA) and Ms. B. Yashaswini, AC (U/T) inspected the vaccination drive, field surveillance, door to door delivery of medicine and functioning of hospitals for Covid-19 management in the Primary Health Centres at Manglutan and Chouldhari.
He also interacted with the Medical Officers of the PHCs and inquired about the progress of vaccination drive and the preparedness of the PHC in the fight against COVID. The DC checked the status of vaccination, ILI/SARI cases, home quarantine, surveillance by field staff, ASHA and ANM workers in their respective areas.

Port Blair, April 22: Shri M.L. Kampani, the first Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands breathed his last today at New Delhi at the age of 97. He was considered as a good visionary and will be remembered as one of the best administrator the islands ever had. His bold initiatives for the construction of Andaman Trunk Road were part of history. The Govt. employees were also benefitted during his tenure as he supported their demand for extension of Special Allowance to local recruitees.

Port Blair, April 22: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain today made a fervent call to the Islanders to take the present scenario of war against COVID-19 seriously and strictly adhere to COVID appropriate behavior without any lapse. Addressing a press conference in the conference hall of Secretariat this evening, the Chief Secretary said, the Islands are witnessing a rise in the corona positive cases primarily due to the incoming passengers from mainland and the Administration is putting its best effort for its containment, so that the safety and health of the Islanders are not put at stake. Despite various proactive measures taken by Administration for the safety of the Islanders, even during such critical stage, many are seen violating the COVID protocol by not wearing mask, not maintaining social distancing and gathering in large numbers, said the Chief Secretary. Such laxity will beget immense challenge in the coming days, as more and more cases are being detected and might lead to a precarious situation, he added.
