Port Blair, April 11: The four-day 'Tika Utsav'' or vaccination festival, aiming to inoculate maximum number of eligible people against coronavirus which started in A&N Islands today witnessed positive response from people. The vaccine drive which began on the Birth anniversary of social reformer Jyotiba Phule will culminate on 14th April on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

To facilitate beneficiaries with hassle free vaccination, today, the Directorate of Health Services established 30 session sites in almost all the Health Care Institutions, few field sites and 75 vaccination points across these Islands which will be increased in the coming days. It is noteworthy to mention that on the first day of the ‘Tika Utsav’ itself, about 2933 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in A&N Islands, setting a record of administration of vaccine on a single day.

Port Blair, April 11: Leading from the front, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SA), Shri Hari Kallikkat, IAS, has taken COVID-19 vaccine today at COVID Vaccination Centre JRNM along with other revenue officials.

The DC inspected the COVID Vaccination Centres set up at PHC Swaraj Dweep, PHC Shaheed Dweep earlier in the day and afterwards visited UHC Dairy Farm and UHC Haddo. He also interacted with 45 plus age group beneficiaries at vaccination centres and asked them to motivate other eligible people to come forward to get vaccinated themselves at the nearest Covid Vaccination Centres established at JNRM college, UHC Dairy Farm, UHC Haddo, CHC Bamboofalt, PHC Garacharma, PHC Manglutan, Community Hall Chouldari, PHC Tushnabad, PHC Ferrargunj, PHC Wimberlygunj, PHC Swaraj Dweep, PHC Shaheed Dweep and PHC Hutbay.

The Mission strives to strengthen rural areas by providing economic, social and infrastructure amenities. In A & N Islands, the Ferrargunj Block was selected by the Administration as the Rurban Cluster.

Vinay Kumar Jindal, Director (RD/PRI), Shri T.N.Krishnamoorthi, Chief Engineer & Administrator, ALHW, and other Villagers inaugurated the HDPE Floating Jetty and Footpath beside seashore areas at Chouldari(Veer Savarkar Park under Critical Gap Funding of Rurban Mission implemented by Rural Development/PRI/ ULBs in A & N Islands.

Port Blair, April 11: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with Shri Aom Dhole, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) and Dr Ganesh Sammaddar made a visit to Swaraj Dweep to review the control measures in view of sudden surge in COVID-19 positive cases in South Andaman District.

The DC took a review meeting in the waiting hall of helipad at Swaraj Dweep which was attended by MO, Swaraj Dweep, Dy.SP, Swarajdweep and officials of revenue and other line department, Ex-PRIs, members of market association. DC(SA) directed to ensure strict enforcement measures to control the pandemic.

Port Blair, April 11: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has put in a word with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to make arrangements of sailing of ship for Campbell Bay and vice versa. The sailing is required to transport public, including patients and businessmen who are stranded at both the places due to non- availability of ships. The MP also informed that these stranded public are facing great financial difficulties for lodging/ boarding since last many days. The Chief Secretary has informed the MP that necessary arrangements would be done as early as possible.
