Any Disobedience to Attract Action Under Sections of IPC
Port Blair, April 9: In view of the recent surge in the positive cases of COVID-19 in the Islands and to contain the further spread of the virus in the South Andaman District, the District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS in exercise of the powers vested U/s 144 of Cr.P.C. has ordered restrictions in the movement of individuals between 10.00 am to 5.00 am.

Port Blair, April 9: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has humbly appealed to all the fellow Islanders to strictly follow the mandatory guidelines issued by the Government of India and Andaman & Nicobar Administration for COVID-19. The guidelines include wearing face mask, social distancing, sanitizing of hands, avoid unnecessary travel, RT-PCR tests from the designated labs while returning back from mainland and 100 percent vaccination of 45 plus population. He also requested the youth of the Islands to help in getting everyone above 45 years of age vaccinated and coordinate the concerned agency of the government to enforce the guidelines for our safety since we have to keep in mind that despite vaccination. There should not be lowering of guard and proper precautions should be taken, he said.

Port Blair, April 9: The A&N Administration will also be celebrating the ‘Teeka Utsav’ from April 11 to 14, 2021 across these Islands to carry out intensive COVID-19 vaccination drive. In this regard, COVID Vaccination Centers have been opened across the Islands, with a view to reduce the movement of the beneficiaries to long distances.
People who are above 45 years of age i.e. who are born before 01.01.1977 are eligible to take the vaccine in the nearest centers. The vaccination sites are at JNRM, Port Blair, PHC Garacharama, Community Hall Chouldari, PHC Ferrargunj, CHC Bambooflat, PHC Baratang, PHC Kadamtala, CHC Rangat, PHC Billiground, Dr. RP Hospital Mayabunder, CHC Diglipur, PHC Radhanagar, PHC Kalighat, PHC Swaraj Dweep, PHC Shaheed Dweep, PHC Hutbay, PHC RK Pur, BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar, CHC Nancowry, PHC Teressa, PHC Katchal, and PHC Campbell Bay. If required additional booths will be opened in addition to the above.

Out of 31 Kgs of Meth, 29 kgs Recovered from Cinque Island
Port Blair, April 9: The Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands once again proved its mettle by arresting four drug peddlers and recovered 31 KGs of Meth Amphetamine contraband.
Acting on a specific intelligence regarding possession of Meth Amphetamine with S. Ablu, DRM at Van Sadan, R/o Nayabasti, Bambooflat, a trap was laid. Sustained interrogation of S. Ablu revealed involvement of 03 more persons having possession of 31 KGs of Meth Amphetamine.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged to observe ‘VACCINATION FESTIVAL’- ‘TIKA UTSAV’ between April 11-14 to inoculate a maximum number of eligible beneficiaries against COVID-19. The ‘TIKA UTSAV' will be observed in the entire territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands starting from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ji's Jayanti on 11th April , 2021 to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Ji's Jayanti on 14th April, 2021, giving vaccination to all the eligible beneficiaries of these Islands.
