Port Blair, July 16: In a major step to contain the burgeoning number of COVID-19 cases in South Andaman District, the District Magistrate has prohibited manufacture, storage, distribution and sale on all forms of processed/flavoured/scented chewing tobacco, whether going by the name of Gutkha, Pan masala, Zarda packed and unpacked/loose etc. which contain tobacco and or nicotine as an ingredient in the entire District of South Andaman.

DCSA Suneel Anchipaka Himself Paints ‘Box Marking’ to Encourage Traders
Port Blair, July 15: To contribute to the fight against COVID-19, the Traders Association of Bathu Basti (TAB) has initiated ‘Box Marking’ to maintain 20 feet distance while shopping in front of all shops located in Bathu Basti, Garacharma and Prothrapur areas.

Port Blair, July 16: The last date for Admission and Re-Registration in Indira Gandhi National Open University's On-line mode for July 2021 is extended upto 31st July, 2021 without any late fees. For Online admission, log on - https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. For Re-registration, the students are advised to log on to https://onlinerr.ignou.ac.in/ for timely payment of their 2nd year or 3rd year fees.

Port Blair, July 15: The District Magistrate, South Andaman in an order today has banned the sale manufacture, storage, distribution and sale on all forms of chewing tobacco in the district w.e.f. 15th July 2021.
The District Administration has noticed that a large section of people living in the islands are in the habit of chewing tobacco and spitting at public places which thereby cause the spread of the virus.
