After all you don’t hear, such exclamations coming in the playing of such dignified a game do you? Maybe gilly-danda, but certainly not golf, and I thought maybe it was a one off spurt of frustration and carried on walking, when I heard the shout again, and found very soon, the person, yelled thus, before each shot.

Port Blair, May 3: A team of Scientists and researchers from Zoological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair and Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata have recently discovered a new insectivorous species of mammal from India after 43 years.
Dr. Chandrakasan Sivaperuman, Scientist-E & Officer-in-Charge, informed that this new species, Crocidura narcondamica, is reported from the Narcondam Island. The new White-toothed shrew species is named after the type locality, Narcondam Island regarded as a volcanic island situated in the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago, India: Narcondam Shrew Crocidura norcondamica.

Port Blair, May 3: While the nation is facing oxygen crisis to treat COVID-19 patients, there seems to be a similar situation with the fourth estate in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The crisis is monetary concerns to run the newspapers, especially dailies.
Private media and journalists in Andamans had experienced worst of its times during the first wave of COVID-19 that hit the islands last year. With the Administration attacking the private media to forcing it down to close, the media out here had really struggled keep going considering the pathetic situation of the pandemic at the time, which needed to be reported. The worst of them was that media were never included as essential services, with exceptions for the Administration’s mouthpiece The Daily Telegrams and the Government’s electronic media functioning out here. Movement passes for journalists were issued after lot of protests but were again restricted in numbers as per the choice of the Administration.

Order Comes With Clarity and Relief for Businesses Which are Allowed to Operate
Port Blair, May 3: The District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS had partially modified the earlier Order No. 606, wherein businesses apart from those permitted to operate were asked to close down. There remained a confusion in the minds of people regarding timings, in-situ works, operation of godowns etc. which the District Magistrate has cleared today.
