Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: At the call given by the All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers to protest against the neglect of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers in the Union Budget presented in the Parliament on 1st February, 2025, the Andaman & Nicobar Anganwadi Workers & Helpers (CITU) conducted a territory-wide mass demonstration/mass dharna today (4.2.2025) afternoon. The main programme was held in front of the Directorate of Social Welfare at Goalghar in which a large number of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers of urban and rural South Andaman areas participated. Inaugurating the mass demonstration, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU State Committee said that the Modi government has been trying to crush the trade union rights of the workers by bringing in four labour codes. He said that the central government is not accepting any of the demands of the Anganwadi Workers & Helpers.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: The District Administration, South Andaman in its efforts to reclaim and safeguard public assets, has intensified its strategic encroachment eviction initiative, ensuring that government land is restored to its rightful purpose.
In the recent eviction drive in Teyolarabad Village (New Bimblitan area), revenue officials successfully removed an illegal encroachment by dismantling a tin structure. A total area of 300 square meters of government revenue land has been restored to the government khata. Additionally, a recorded tenant had developed an unapproved katcha road on government revenue land without the necessary permissions. The unauthorized construction has been blocked by the revenue staff to prevent further encroachment.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: In observance of Road Safety month and Police Raising Week, the A&N Traffic Police undertook extensive traffic enforcement and awareness activities throughout January 2025 to ensure road safety, reduce traffic violations and educate road users. During this month various initiatives were conducted including strict checking of traffic violations, action against dangerous driving and drunken driving, as well as public awareness campaigns to promote responsible road behaviour.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 4: The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, A & N Administration has informed that a ‘Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Tourism at North Cinque Island’ has been prepared in-coordination and consultation with Forest Department and other line Departments.
The SOP is to establish a clear framework for managing tourism activities at North Cinque Island while ensuring the conservation of its unique biodiversity and to protect the natural environment of the Island.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Fen 4: Surya Foundation International Naturopathy Organisation (INO) Sri Vijaya Puram in collaboration with National Institute of Naturopathy, Ministry of Ayush Govt. of India will be organizing a “camp on the theme Geriatric Care through Naturopathy –yoga” on Saturday 8th February at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium at 10 am. Expert doctors from Ayurveda, Naturopathy and Yoga will speak and guide the audience.
