Car Nicobar, Feb. 17: The closing ceremony of the prestigious XXVI Vice President of India Cup Soccer Championship 2024-25 was held at BJR Stadium, Tamaloo, Car Nicobar today. Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Shri Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar was the guest of honour. Shri Muneer Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Car Nicobar, Shri Solomon Samuel, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and Rt. Rev. Thomas Nathan, Bishop, A&N Diocese were present on the occasion.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 17: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has raised an urgent demand for the immediate repair and improvement of the State Highway (SH-11) road, which stretches from Tirur to Tushnabad Junction. The road, approximately 10 kilometers in length, has been in an extremely deteriorated condition, posing severe risks to commuters.

Mayabunder, Feb. 17: The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A&N Islands, Shri Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, inaugurated the newly established Forest Station at Kharanallah, Mayabunder in the presence of Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial Circle), Dr. A. Anil Kumar, IFS, during his tour to Mayabunder Forest Division on Feb.15, 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, the PCCF emphasized the crucial role of Forest Stations in monitoring and safeguarding biodiversity of these Islands, highlighting the commitments of the Department towards sustainable forest management. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from local Administration such as Police, Health, Veterinary and others, besides PRI members of the region.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 17: As part of ongoing special drives to ensure road safety and strict enforcement of traffic regulations, the Traffic Police conducted intensive checks across various locations. During the last week i.e from 10/02/2025 to 16/02/2025, a total of 420 challans were issued & fine collected Rs. 2,75,500/- for various violations. These include 40 challans for drunken driving. Additionally, legal action has also been initiated against 01 vehicle for dangerous driving, 01 vehicle for juvenile driving, 02 vehicles for the use of pressure horns, 08 vehicles for riding without a helmet, 22 vehicles for using tinted films on rear & side windows and 01 for vehicle without number plates.

Ferrargunj, Feb 17: The Chess in Schools (CiS) Programme for primary school students under CRC GMSSS Ferrargunj of the Wimberlygunj Educational zone commenced this morning at GMSSS Ferrargunj auditorium. Shri. Vikram Singh, Director of Education, A & N Administration, inaugurated the programme with a ceremonial move against a special child, symbolizing inclusivity & the transformative power of chess. Dr. Manoharan, Deputy Education Officer, Wimberlygunj, smti. Poonam Kumari, in-charge GMSSS Ferrargunj and officials of the Education Department were present on the occasion.
