Port Blair, July 12: While undertaking EEZ Surveillance of A&N islands on 10th July 2020, Coast Guard Dornier located one fishing boat adrift approximately 190 nm north-west of Port Blair. The Dornier crew with their experience and knowledge identified the boat to be Sri Lankan and same was corroborated with MRCC Colombo. The Sri Lankan boat was reportedly in distress due to technical snag.

Port Blair, July 12: The Ex Adhyaksha ZP, SA, Miss Mariyam Bibi recently met the Chief Engineer, APWD and requested him to take necessary steps to expedite the tendering process of work namely "Upgradation of mini stadium at Wimberlygunj" under RURBAN scheme. She informed that necessary Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction for an amount of Rs 2 crore was accorded by the competent authority and the file was sent to the APWD for further action.

A&N Police Announces Results of Online Drawing/Painting Competition
Port Blair, July 12: To mark the occasion of “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on 26th June, 2020 an online drawing/painting competition with this year theme (Campaign against Drugs) was organised by A&N Police. A total of 76 students (Boys & Girls) in Inter-School category and 19 students (Boys & Girls) in Open Category participated and shared their paintings through e-mail/Whatsapp. Based on the parameter of aesthetics, innovation and craftsmanship of the Online Drawing/Painting competition, six overall winners (3 Male & 3 Female) in Inter school & 03 in open category alongwith 20 consolation prizes for innovative ideas have been declared by the Committee consisting of Ms. Sandhya Swamy, IPS, (SP/Communication), Dr. K. Venkatesan, HOD/Home Science, JNRM, Port Blair and Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP/CID. The details of winners are as under:

Port Blair, July 10: With the end of Summer Vacation, hundreds of teachers will be moving out of Port Blair for different remote Islands, including the Nicobar group of islands. Not only teachers, their family members, dependents and other non-tribals will also be travel from Port Blair to other Islands. Considering the ever growing number of Corona Cases in Port Blair, this is a major threat for our people in remote Islands, said Rasheed Yusoof, State President, Akhil Bharatiya Aadivasi Vikas Parishad while speaking to Andaman Chronicle today.
