Port Blair, March 22: The District Health Society attached with District Administration, South Andaman have been conducting a series of events to spread awareness and to overcome stigma on the theme “Invest to End TB. Save Lives” in connection with World TB Day under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

NTEP (SA) in coordination with Directorate of Shipping Services conducted Awareness-cum-Active case finding of Tuberculosis among the employees of DSS on 22nd Mar 2022 at Marine Hall.

Dr. P. Lal, District TB Officer (SA) addressed the gathering and spoke about the origin of NTEP, types, signs & symptoms of tuberculosis. The employees of DSS took pledge on #TBMuktBharat and joined hands to contribute towards TB Free South Andaman.

NTEP (SA) conducted awareness programme cum active case finding among SHGs at Gram Panchayat, Shoal Bay-12 in coordination with Directorate of RD, PRIs & ULBs in addition to the awareness programme-cum-active case finding at JNRM Hostel, Directorate of Transport Services, Directorate of Social Welfare, Schools and private work places.

The District Health Society has been dedicatedly making a huge impact by sensitizing religious leaders & devotees on Tuberculosis and motivated the religious leaders to spread awareness among devotees during prayers and gatherings.
