Port Blair, March 22: After the conduct of Elections to Gram Panchayat a special meeting of Sippighat, Beodonabad and Calicut Gram Panchayats was convened by Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman for the purpose of administering oath and also to elect Up-Pradhan to their respective Gram Panchayats.

Oath of Office to newly elected Pradhans, Members and elected Up-Pradhans of Sippighat, Beodonabad and Calicut Gram Panchayat respectively administered by Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman and Miss Yashaswini .B Assistant Commissioner (U/T), in their respective Panchayat Halls.

In Sippighat Gram Panchayat after administering oath of allegiance to Pradhan and Members, an election was conducted to the office of Up-Pradhan. Following the election procedure, Shri Lalit Suman Ekka of BJP, Sippighat Panchayat was elected to the post of Up-Pradhan by a margin of 08 votes against Shri R. Vincent Walter of INC.

 Similarly in Beodonabad Gram Panchayat Shri N. Karthik, BJP, and Shri Elavarasan, INC, contested for the post of Up-Pradhan which was tied as both the candidate received 7 votes each. Later the result of Up-Pradhan election was declared by draw of-lots in the presence of Assistant Commissioner, S/A in which Shri N. Karthik has been declared elected to the post of Up-Pradhan, Beodonabad GP.

In Calicut Gram Panchayat Smti J. Ammathali of BJP, has been declared elected unopposed to the post of Up-Pradhan wherein no other members filed the nominations.

The Oath ceremony was conducted in a peaceful manner and the Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman congratulated the elected members.
