Port Blair, Aug 30: The Airport Advisory Committee meeting of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair was held today the 30th August 2022 under the Chairmanship of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands at the Conference Hall, VSI Airport, Port Blair.
Officials from different concerned departments including the Airport Director and members of the committee attended the meeting and discussed the following issues in the meeting.
1) Issues related with passenger facilitation aimed at making the airport user friendly.
2) Handling congestion at the airport.
3) Cleanliness of surrounding areas of the airport.
4) Transport/Taxi service issues.
5) Airport approach road and road traffic congestion problems.
6) Maintenance of essential services to ensure uninterrupted functions of the airports especially during political agitations
7) Issues relating with the airport functioning likely to attend directly or indirectly the interest of the airport users.
8) Steps to strengthen solid waste management and make the airport environment friendly.
9) Issues related to creating certain entertainment facilities, marketing hub, health care facilities, inside the new airport port terminal were also discussed to make suitable provisions in the terminal building.
Various suggestions, views and opinions given by the other officials and members of the committee attended the meeting were also taken into note by the Airport authority as directed by the Member of Parliament (Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee) to ensure implementation of the suggestions.
