Port Blair, Oct. 28: The Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration of Independent India, is observed as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on 31st October, 2022, every year. This is an occasion to foster and reinforce our commitment to strengthen the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Known for his supreme patriotism, iron will and courage of conviction, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a man who lived an extraordinary life in extraordinary times. His vital role in the Indian freedom struggle and unification of States earned him the title of 'Iron Man of India'. Sardar Patel became the first Deputy Prime Minister of free India in 1947, and history remembers him as the builder and consolidator of New India.

In order to celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on 31st October, 2022, an exhibition on 'Sardar Patel -The Architect of Unification’ will be put up by the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration at Andaman Club.  The exhibition will remain open for school and college students and general public from 9 am onwards on 31st October, 2022. As part of weeklong celebrations, the Department of Art & Culture will also conduct Nukkad Nataks on ‘Unity’ theme in and around Port Blair.
