Port Blair, March 19: The Department of Economics of JNRM organised a programme on 17th, March 2023 as a part of observing the international Consumers Right Day-2023 on this year’s theme "Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions". Dr. H.K. Sharma Principal JNRM was the Chief Guest of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest mentioned that this day signifies celebration and solidarity in the international consumer movement, demanding that, consumer rights are to be respected and protected.
Dr. Hema Banerjee, Head, Department of Economics JNRM presided over the programme and spoke on the importance of being a consumer and she said that each consumer has the right to have information about the quality, potency, quantity, purity, price and standard of goods or services as provisioned in the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Earlier the convenor of the programme Dr. Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics welcomed the gathering and spoke on the importance of observing World Consumer Rights Day.
On the occasion, a Quiz Competition on the theme and importance of “Empowering Consumers through Clean Energy Transitions", was conducted by Dr. D. Vijaylaxmi, Guest Faculty, Department of Economics. The Programme Concluded with the Vote of Thanks Proposed by Ms. Asha, Guest Faculty, Department of Economics.
