Port Blair, July 28: The Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration organized a workshop on ‘Building Sustainable and Socially Responsible Start-ups’ in the Conference Hall of Industries Department today for the start-ups as well as entrepreneurs and college students of A&N Islands to further strengthen the Startup Ecosystem and boost the growth of start-ups.

The event saw an overwhelming response from the students of various colleges of these Islands such as DBRAIT and Tagore Govt. College as well as entrepreneurs and youths who whole heartedly participated in the event and gained information on the Start-up India scheme.

Addressing the participants, the Director of Industries, Shri Abhishek Bhukal, stated that building a start-up is a challenging but rewarding experience for entrepreneurs who are passionate about their ideas and are willing to put in the hard work to make them workable. He encouraged the participants to make best use of the opportunity and technical sessions.

Speaking as guest of honor, the Principal, DBRAIT, Shri Utpal Sharma informed that the students building start-ups is a wonderful and exciting trend and motivated the students to think out of the box. He further said that groundbreaking products or services started as simple innovation by bright minds have grown as start-ups and are a household name today.

Ms. Aprajita Saini, Assistant Manager, Start-up India New Delhi connected via VC expressing her delight towards the workshop that was conducted for the students of Higher Education Institutes, assured support from the Startup India Team, DPIIT. M/s UNICORNIZ Innovation Pvt. Ltd, a DPIIT recognized start-up shared their success story and experiences of their endeavour in coming up as a start-up in AR/VR Technology.

The Deputy Director, Shri Ajit Anand while proposing the vote of thanks stated that effective steps will be taken by the Industries Department along with Line Departments for conducting similar programs for promotion of startups in these Islands. Earlier, the Deputy Director, Shri Subhasish Bagchi welcomed the dignitaries and participants.

The inaugural session was followed by Technical Session that was addressed by Professor Dhruv Nath, Director of Lead Angel Network on the topic ‘Translating ideas into successful Buiness Model’. Ms Oishika Ghosh, Assistant Manager, Start-up India in her session informed about the procedures for getting recognized as a Start-up from DPIIT. Further, Shri Ashish Kumar Verma, a budding startup and student of KV-I and a National Winner in Web Technology, shared his experiences and journey towards achieving his goals and the making of an app called “NAVYA AI”.
