Port Blair, April 21: On April 12, 2024, the diligent efforts of the Pahargaon Police team culminated in the apprehension of Soubhagya Ranjan Swain, aged 44, hailing from Narshingpur, Kendrapara, Odisha, who had long eluded the law. This decisive action followed the issuance of a Non-Bailable Warrant stemming from a 2010 case registered at PS Pahargaon under sections 420/417/376 of the IPC.

Accused, evasive from 2016, had shifted to Odisha post his retirement from the Territorial Army and was not complying to court notices. Intelligence later suggested his possible presence in West Bengal.

Swiftly altering course, the team redirected their efforts to West Bengal. Employing advanced technical surveillance methods and leveraging local intelligence networks, Swain was successfully traced and apprehended in Howrah, West Bengal, on April 12, 2024.

Subsequently, Swain was escorted to Port Blair under transit remand and presented before the Hon’ble Court, marking the culmination of an exhaustive pursuit by the Pahargaon Police.
