Bambooflat, April 29: On a recent visit to the Surya Chakra Powerhouse, Dr. Prasant Kumar, Director of Power, accompanied by engineers from the Electricity Department, engaged in a critical dialogue with local community leaders and residents concerning the ongoing power distribution challenges in the region. Among the attendees were Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member of Bambooflat, the Pradhans of Shorepoint and Nayapuram, Up Pradhans of Bambooflat sectors, Samity members of Hope Town and Bambooflat 2 and local social workers Mr. Gafoor and Mr. Debkumar Badra.

The visit was primarily focused on addressing several urgent issues raised by the community leaders, including frequent power cuts, inadequate power distribution, shortage of technical staff, and the need for replacing old and damaged poles. Mr. Kumar attentively heard the grievances and assured the community of his commitment to resolve these issues with top priority.

In an effort to streamline the resolution process and enhance service monitoring, Mr. Kumar announced the provision of a dedicated WhatsApp number (95318 22200) for residents to report power outages directly. This initiative aims to provide the department with real-time data to improve power management and response times effectively.

Moreover, concerns about environmental impact were also discussed. Local residents expressed their distress over the noise and air pollution emanating from the powerhouse engines. Responding to these concerns, Mr. Kumar requested the company to undertake a thorough examination of the environmental issues and devise strategies to mitigate the impact, prioritizing the health and comfort of the community.

Mr. Kumar’s visit concluded with a comprehensive tour of the facility, during which he instructed his team to assess and address the discussed matters earnestly in the interest of public welfare.
