Port Blair, May 9: A three-day training program on "First Aid Fire Fighting & Disaster Preparedness" was successfully conducted at Fire & Emergency Services (HQ) from 07/05/2024 to 09/05/2024. The program aimed to sensitize teachers, students, hoteliers, and the general public about fire safety and disaster preparedness. The event witnessed the participation of 145 individuals, including a commendable number of female participants.

Shri. Manjeet Sheoran, IPS Superintendent of Police (Fire and Emergency), graced the valedictory function as the Chief Guest. He interacted with participants, emphasizing the crucial role of fire safety awareness in the community. Participants were encouraged to share the knowledge gained and implement fire safety precautions in their respective areas. Certificates were awarded to participants during the valediction ceremony.

Throughout the program, participants were familiarized with various activities of the Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services, including the functioning of the Fire Control Room and operational techniques of firefighting and rescue equipment such as Water Tender, Rescue Tender, and Disaster Management tools like Search & Rescue equipment, Chain Saw, Concrete Cutter, Air Lifting Bag, and Combi Tools. A live demonstration on firefighting using different types of fire extinguishers was also conducted, actively involving the participants.

The initiative received positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the efforts of the A & N Fire and Emergency Services in enhancing the capacity of stakeholders to respond effectively to fire emergencies.

The participants appreciated and expressed their gratitude for building capacity of the individuals to respond any emergency as first line responders.
