Port Blair, May 9: In a decisive crackdown on drug trafficking, a team comprising of Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO PS Crime & Economic Offence, ASI Mohd. Rafique, HC/ Sanjit Madhu, HC/Sanjay Kujur, HC/Shibani Biswas, PC/N. Thangaraj, PC/K. Rajendran and PC/Y. Srinivas Rao from PS Crime & Economic Offence (Then CCS) under the supervision of Sh. Kumar Abhishek, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) conducted a meticulously planned raid at Malai Bijan, Haddo, on the night of April 26-27, 2024, which led to the swift arrest of accused T.Naveen Kumar, S/o Shri. T. Dharma Rao (23) yrs, Pvt. Worker R/o House No. 18/21, M.B. Street, Malai Bijan, Haddo and the recovery of 31 grams of Methamphetamine.

Following the arrest, a thorough investigation uncovered a complex network of drug distribution. Accused T. Naveen Kumar disclosed the involvement of Sanjeev Mazumdar in procuring Methamphetamine from Hut Bay. Sanjeev Mazumder, S/o Late Mihir Mazumder (23) yrs, R/o Craikabad, Chouldari was subsequently arrested, with 18 grams of Methamphetamine seized from his possession by the same team on 27/04/2024.

Further unravelling the chain, accused Eswar Rao 33 yrs, R/o behind Kalapani Museum, Garacharma was identified as the recipient of the illicit substance and was subsequently arrested on April 28, 2024 with 4.36 grams of Methamphetamine recovered from his possession by the above team of officers from PS Crime & Economic Offence.

In the coordinated effort to dismantle the syndicate, a dedicated team led by SI Parvash, HC/ Sanjit Madhu & HC/Sanjay Kujur was deployed to investigate further at Hut Bay. On April 5, 2024, the team recovered 200 grams of Methamphetamine from Bittu Gharami, S/o Shri Jasomanto Gharami (23) yrs,  R/o Ward No.1, R.K.Pur, Little Andaman and 45 grams from Shridam Xalxo, S/o Late Silvanus Xalxo 34 yrs, R/o Ward No.9 R.K.Pur, Little Andaman. The above two accused were promptly arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985.

Continuing the vigilant operation, the team recovered an additional 10 grams of Methamphetamine from the residence of accused Shridam Xalxo on 07 May 2024. Furthermore, 200 grams of Methamphetamine were seized from another accused, Saurav Dhali S/o Sh. Sudev Dhali (22) yrs., Pvt. Worker R/o Ward No.06, Ramakrishnapur, Hutbay, Little Andaman, leading to his prompt arrest. All the seizure and arrest at Little Andaman was affected by the above team deputed from PS C&EO in the presence of Shri Ajoy Mondal, Executive Magistrate-cum-Tehsildar, Little Andaman.

Investigations revealed the involvement of prime accused Shridam Xalxo and Bittu Gharami (old acquaintances), from Little Andaman who were approached by Naveen Kumar and Sanjeev Mazumder during a visit to Hut Bay on 11 April, 2024. A lucrative deal was struck, with an initial payment of ₹ 47,000 digitally transferred to the account of the now-apprehended Sukumar Mondal, S/o Late Swapan Mondal, 27 yrs, pvt worker, R/o RK Pur, little Andaman. However, due to the parliamentary elections, the contraband delivery was delayed. Undeterred, Sanjeev & Naveen revisited Hut Bay post-elections, finalizing the delivery of Methamphetamine with an additional cash & digital payment of 1.5 Lakhs to Shridam Xalxo and Bittu Gharami.

The investigative team and officers of Police Station Crime & Economic offence orchestrated a sensational operation under the leadership of Inspector Girish Kumar SHO PS C&EO, resulting in the seizure of 508.36 grams of Methamphetamine and subsequent arrest of seven individuals involved in its possession and distribution sends shockwaves through illicit networks, highlighting the relentless pursuit of justice and the uncompromising stance against drug-related offenses. This bold action underscores law enforcement's unwavering commitment to preserving community safety and upholding the rule of law.

Transit remand of all the four accused persons from Little Andaman have been obtained for production before the Hon’ble Court at Port Blair on today i.e. 09/05/24.

The Entire operation was conducted under the command of Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and under overall supervision of Shri Rajeev Ranjan, IPS, SP(CID).
