Port Blair, Aug. 6: The Andaman and Nicobar Command in an initiative towards Human Resource Development and to improve employability of the youth of Andaman & Nicobar Islands proposes to assist in training of Apprentices at the Dockyard Apprentice Schools of the Indian Navy. Such training is necessary as Government of India recruitment rules for employment of Tradesmen by Defence Ship Repair Yards mandates one/two years of training at Dockyard Apprentice Schools after completion of training at Industrial Training Institutes. Thus towards enhancing the employability of ITI candidate from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andaman & Nicobar Command and Naval Ship Repair Yard, Port Blair have evolved a program to facilitate the training of about 20 ITI qualified candidates at Dockyard Apprentice School, Visakhapatnam.

Such training will not only make them eligible for recruitment by NSRY, Port Blair and other Naval Repair Yards, but aims to improve their employability in other industry, as Dockyard Apprentices School trained candidates are on high demand in the private industry.

ITI qualified male and female candidates seeking admission into Dockyard Apprentice School, Visakhapatnam may go through the prospectus and the prescribed proforma and submit applications by 13 Aug 2012 to The Commodore Superintendent [for Senior Manager (P&A)], Naval Ship Repair Yard, Haddo, Port Blair, 744102.
