Port Blair, Aug. 6: The 30th Installation ceremony of Rotary Club of Port Blair under RI district 3291 was held on 4th Aug. 2012 at Fortune Resort Bay Island at Marine Hill. Shri SB Deol, Director General of Police, A&N Islands was the chief guest on the occasion while Shri Sanat Kaul, former Jt Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and former Chief Secretary, A&N Islands graced the occasion as special guest.

In the installation ceremony Rtn Girish Arora was installed the President and Rtn Srawan Agarwal as Secretary of the Club for the year 2012-13.

Speaking on the occasion the outgoing President Shri Zakir Jadwet showcased the activities and projects undertaken by the club during last one year through multimedia presentation. He said that he had tried his best in fulfilling his presidential responsibility bestowed upon him by the club members. He also said that during the past one year Port Blair Rotary Club has bagged 7 awards among the district branches.

The incoming President Shri Girish Arora in his address briefed about his vision for 2012-13 and said that he is willing to take up more philanthropic projects and activities during the forthcoming year. He also sought the support of fellow Rotarians in his future endeavours for its success. Rtn Girish also informed that on the very day of the installation of new club, an Oral Health Check Up camp under National Oral Health Program were organized at many places in the Islands.

Shri SB Deol speaking on the occasion said that the tendency of people in the islands is to expect a lot from the administration. This should be shed and individuals and organizations should do their best to find a way out to solve problems without depending much on the administration. He also pointed that despite the prevalent crisis of Electricity, Quarry products, water etc., the Islands offer tremendous potential, which needs to be tapped.

“Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a paradise”, Deol said adding that it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to maintain it.

Shri Sanat Kaul speaking on the occasion congratulated the Club for their philanthropic activities and wished that the Club will go a long way on providing support to the deprived in the society.

Rtn Dr Dinesh, Dental Surgeon, through photographs displayed the conduct of oral checkup camps in different islands including Port Blair, Rangat, Diglipur, Car Nicobar, Campbell Bay, Kamorta etc.

Rtn Mohd Jadwet detailed the different awards bagged by the Club during last one year.

The ceremony was compered by Rtn Abhijit Agarwal, which later ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Rtn Srawan Agarwala, the incoming Secretary of the Club.
