Port Blair, Sept. 11: To observe the International day for Disaster Reduction on 10th October, 2012, the National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi (NIDM) invites proposals from schools to develop their own "School Safety Plans," with an objective to create awareness among students, teachers and other stakeholders about school safety.

The plan may be prepared by the schools involving a group of students, who will hold meetings with all stakeholders to prepare the plan. Schools can submit their School Safety Plans to NIDM before 15th September, 2012. Out of the received plans from schools, 20 selected plans across the country will be awarded Rs. 25,000 to each as prize along with certificates.

Schools may send top 3 selected plans to NIDM for consideration by the award committee before due date, duly signed by Principal/Head of the school along with giving full address/name of the contact person, phone number, e-mail etc.

School Safety Plans in hard copies not exceeding 10 pages and including all illustrations etc. should be sent to the address given below before 15th September, 2012.
