Port Blair, Feb. 25: Continuing its crackdown on illegal activities, the A&N Police has busted a prostitution racket and arrested the kingpin on Friday 22nd Feb. 2013. Altogether five persons have been arrested from the brothel running in the house of Smti Jharna Roy Choudhury, near Dhanikhari Junction.
Gathering intelligence about the ongoing immoral activities at the brothel in Dhanikhari area, the DySP (South Andaman) Shry Anyesh Roy led a team of PS Aberdeen raided the brothel. Before that a trap was laid by sending a cop as a decoy customer. A deal was struck with the brothel owner soon after which the police party raided the house as per the plan and arrested the brothel owner, her assistant Prabhakar Mallick and three ladies from the spot under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
A case has been registered at PS Humfrigunj and further investigation is in progress. The police raiding team comprised of ASI M Abdul Rasheed, HC Sanjay Kujur, HC Surya Narayan, PCs Ashish Mallick, Rakesh Toppo, Kumarswamy, M Raja Rao, Neelmani Lakra, Kasila Devi and HG Chiranjivi along with SI T Hemawathi, SHO Hunfrigunj.
