Port Blair, March 4: The PCC President, Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt Governor for posting lady Tehsildars in various places of A&N Islands.

Advocating for such appointment, Sharma said that during his recent visit to North and Middle Andaman he has come to know that due to  shortage of Tehsildar, the Tehsildar of Diglipur has been given additional charges of Tehsildars of Rangat and Mayabunder. Sharma had already brought this before the Chief Secretary vide his letter dt 30th January, 2013.

The PCC President also mentioned that no Tehsildar has not been posted to Campbell Bay. He therefore requested the Administrator to consider posting of Tehsildars at all those places of A&N Islands where at present no regular Tehsildars are available.

As for the demand of Lady Tehsildars, Sharma said that with such postings, the rural women can feel much free to speak their grievances, which they hesitate to express before a male.

Sharma hoped that the Administrator will consider filling up of the shortages with suitable candidates and also take care of positioning of lady Tehsildars by allowing certain percentage of reservation for them as a welfare of the people and women folks of  A&N Islands.
