Port Blair, March 4: TheMalaria workers under the Directorate of Health Services, are yet to receive their salaries for the month of February 2013. It is learnt that this is a regular feature for the last six years. Many a time the worker’s salary was delayed for even more than three months.

There are strict guidelines to pay salary to regular employees, on the last of every month. But in the instant case regular employees are made to suffer due to administrative lapses.

It is learnt that the DHS has not received the required funds for Malaria Department due to negligence of Accounts Department, and thus the salary has been delayed.

The aggrieved workers in a communication said that last year when the salary of the workers were delayed, the Director of Health Services had assured that the problem will not arise in future. Unfortunately the situation remains the same.

It can be expected that the concerned authorities would look into the matter, so as to resolve the issue permanently.
