Port Blair, March 4: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh has approved the enhancement of consolidated salary of Medical Officers of Homoeopathy, Ayurveda and Dental Surgeons engaged by the Health department on contract basis. The salary was last increased in February 2011.
Accordingly, the salary of Doctors posted in hospitals in various areas will be from Rs 54,000/- to Rs 62,000/- pm, the highest being paid in Hut Bay and Southern group of the Islands. The enhancement of payment to the contract doctors will be paid with effect from the month of March 2013.

Port Blair, March 4: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has been taking up the issue of hike in Honorarium to the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers of the Union Territory through his several letters and communications with the Lt. Governor , concerned Ministries of GOI and also took the issue in the floor of the Lok Sabha since the year 2009.
“Now it is a matter of happiness and gratitude that the A&N Administration has approved the enhancement of Honorarium of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers w.e.f. 1st March 2013 @ Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively. I express my sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor for the same”, said the MP in a communication.

Port Blair, Mar. 3: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has approved the enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi workers and Helpers under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
ICDS is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented through Anganwadi Centres where Anganwadi workers and Helpers are engaged on a monthly honorarium basis. The honorarium under the scheme is made on a specific funding pattern i.e. central and State share at the rate of 9:1.
The rate of UT share of honorarium has now been increased from Rs 1000/- to Rs 2000/- pm to Anganwadi workers and from Rs 750/- to Rs 1500/- pm to Helpers. With the enhancement of honorarium, the Anganwadi worker will now get a total of Rs 5000/-pm and the Helper will get Rs 3000/- pm. The enhancement of honorarium will be effective from 1st April 2013.
