Campbell Bay, April 17: A proud moment for the entire UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as Gram Panchayat Laxminagar under Campbell Bay Block in the Nicobar district has secured 2nd Position in the National Panchayat Awards 2023 in the theme "Self Sufficient Infrastructure in Panchayat", under category Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP). The Gram Panchayat has achieved the milestone by competing with other 2.68 lakh Gram the across the country.

Port Blair, April 17: The Directorate of Shipping Services under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Administration has introduced online reservation of ship tickets for the convenience of the passengers. The Chief Secretary, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS in the presence of Secretary (Shipping), Shri Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman, IAS and Director of Shipping Services, Capt. Atul Kumar Singh in a brief function at his office held today, launched the Directorate’s website with e-ticketing facility and lauded the Department for this citizen centric initiative.

Port Blair, April 17: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament had called upon Chief Secretary, A&N Administration recently and submitted the proposal for regularisation of service of the contractual employees of Directorate of Shipping Services engaged in Afloat Section and the Industrial establishment of Marine Dockyard.
Sharma informed the Chief Secretary that shipping being the life line for the Islanders and in order to cope up the need of operation and maintenance of its fleet of ferry boats, the Directorate of Shipping Services since the year 2014 has been recruiting qualified persons on contract basis despite the fact that their requirement being permanent in nature.

Port Blair, April 17: Impressive march past by participating contingents, colourful cultural programme and unveiling of championship trophy marked the grand inauguration of the XXII State School Games & 7th State level competition for CWSN at the historic Netaji Stadium here today. Being organised by the Directorate of Education, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Education/ Sports), A&N Administration, Shri Nikhil Kumar, IAS hoisted the Meet Flag and declared open the school Games as the chief guest.
