Port Blair, Aug 17: The Transport Department in a bid to provide improved services to the citizens has taken a historic step and shifted its Motor Vehicle Registration related activities from ‘VAHAN 1.0’ to VAHAN 4.0’ software version. The shifting of the process will enable the citizens to make the fee payment for transaction like road tax, fitness, registration, renewal, hypothecation etc. online and at the same time ATR Express bus ticketing will also be made available online.

Port Blair, Aug 17: The BJP State Unit, Andaman and Nicobar Islands celebrated the 74th Independence Day in a befitting manner following all the COVID-19 protocols and by maintaining Social Distancing. Flag was Hoisted at BJP Headquarters, Middle Point by Shri. Prakash Adhikari, Vice President, BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Shri. Prakash Adhikari was authorised to hoist the National Flag at BJP HQ Port Blair by Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands who couldn’t attend the function because of being in Quarantine for seven days as per protocol after defeating COVID-19. During the flag hoisting Shri. Vishal Jolly, Former President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. N.K Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson, PBMC (President, Yuva Morcha, BJP, A & N Islands) and members of the BJP State Unit and different morchas of BJP were present.

Port Blair, Aug 17: In the wake of rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in Round Basti-Atlanta point area and in ABC Colony, Shadipur along with detection of Multiple ILI cases in these areas, both these areas have been declared as Containment Zones.

Further, as there have been no further reports of COVID-19 Positive cases in Prem Nagar (Part) containment zone and all past cases have been discharged, the containment operations in this area have been declared closed.
