Port Blair, Aug 13: A seven-year-old male child was admitted in children ward with complaints of high grade fever with chills and rigor and pain in abdomen for the last 2 days. He was in an unstable condition in septic shock and was managed initially in the PICU by the Paediatric intensivists and the child was stabilized. Child was clinically found to have abdominal distension and an enlarged spleen.

People pay tribute to local veers, express commitment to live life sticking to ‘Panch-Pran’

Diglipur, Aug 13: Joining the Nation in the “Meri Maati-Mera Desh'' campaign, a Shilaphalakam-the Memorial Plaque in memory of the sacrifices and contributions made by the local veers of the Sitanagar Panchayat was unveiled today. The Diglipur Panchayat Samiti Pramukh Shri Dipankar Mistry unveiled the Plaque in a ceremony held in the campus of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sitanagar. The Plaque has the names of the local veers Shri Sumanta Das, Shri Basant Topno, Shri Balai Halder, Shri Dhiran Podder, Shri Gopal Krishna Paul, Shri Balaram Dhar, Shri Jayanti Biswas, Shri Lazrus Kujur and Shri Abhiram Das. 

Port Blair, Aug 13: The A&N Islands’ SKDA Karate team had participated in the National Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi on 11th and 12th August 2023. Making the Islands’ proud, the team secured as many as 19 medals in the tournament.

Port Blair, Aug 13: In a Road Traffic Accident (RTA), that occurred on Aug 11, 2023, a 38-year-old male sustained crushed injury of left leg with ankle dislocation, and was presented to the GBPH/ANIIMS casuality with compromised vascularity of limb.

The patient was haemodynamically stabilised and taken for emergency surgical intervention. Without wasting any time, a team of Orthopedic surgeon and anaesthetist performed surgery on amputated part of the leg for 4 hours. Open reduction and fixation of ankle joint, lisfranc dislocation, ankle spanning external fixator application was done by a team.
