Port Blair, Sept. 30: The State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri. Ajoy Bairagi has written a letter to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands with copies to the Secretary, Shipping, Director, Shipping Services and to the Deputy Commissioner of all the three Districts requesting them to make arrangements for the stranded people from Inter-Islands at Port Blair or to make necessary arrangements for them to travel to their respective places of residence.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: The COVID-19 preventive lockdown has changed the life of every individual in the country. While the lockdown is much required to fight the pandemic, it has also lead to numerous problems, especially for the underprivileged section of the society who live in a ‘hand to mouth’ situation throughout the year. Many of daily wage earners have lost their jobs and are struggling to fend for themselves and their families.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Continuing on the zero tolerance policy on the organized crime, district police of North & Middle Andaman carried out a crackdown on the manufacturing and sale of illicit liquor. Based on information that due to the fear of action by the police, some people are making 'jungli' liquor in the nearby forest, search teams were deputed. Thousands of litres of the concoction stored for fermentation was destroyed in these search operations. PS Kalighat and PS Rangat have done particularly well in this.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Chinmaya Mission Port Blair will be organsing week long Sri Bhagwat Mahapuran Saptah from October 3 to October 10, 2020 at Mission Auditorium. The Katha will be held every day from 5 pm to 8 pm. Resident Acharya of the Port Blair Mission, Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati will conduct the programme.
