Port Blair, May 2: In line with the directions of Govt. of India to States/Union Territories that all the States/UTs shall celebrate not only their own Statehood days but also the State formation days of others States and in order to promote 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' concept, the A&N Raj Niwas celebrated the foundation days of States of Maharashtra and Gujarat in a befitting function organized on 01st May, 2023.

Port Blair, May 2: A Cricket tournament “Swaraj Dweep Police Cup-2023” was organized by Police Station Swaraj Dweep under the supervision of SDPO Swaraj Dweep. The Tournament commenced on 08/04/2023 and concluded with a final match on 25/04/2023. A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament at Swaraj Dweep. It was an initiative to motivate the young sportspersons to participate in such sports activities in future as well as to strengthen friendly relationship between police and general public. The final match of the tournament was played on 25/04/2023 between Cops Cricketers and Radha Nagar Team.

Port Blair, May 2: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Port Blair participated in the ICAR Zonal Sports Tournament (Eastern Zone)-2022 held at ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar during 24th to 27th April, 2023. The zonal sports tournament was attended by the participants from 21 ICAR Research Institutes of Eastern zone. The team ICAR-CIARI was represented in the tournament with the coordination of Mrs. G.V. Kantam as Chief-De-Mission and Mrs. Champa Rani Das as Team Manager.

Port Blair, May 2: The MPL 33rd National U-17 Chess Championship–2023 began yesterday the 1st May 2023 in Jalandhar, Punjab.

Around 250 players across India are participating in the prestigious event in which 3 young budding chess players, (two boys and one girl) from Andaman & Nicobar Islands viz. D Shrestha Vijay, A Chirag Kumar and Jasleen Kaur Bohra are taking part in the Championship.
