I greet the people of these islands on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra.  Lord Jagannath is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the Rath Yatra of Odisha witness the coming together of the entire community in celebration of the grace and divinity of Lord Jagannath. May the pious and noble ideals associated with Rath Yatra enrich our lives with peace, good health and harmony. I also pray to the Lord to give all of us  the strength to fight against the COVID 19, serve the poor and honour the warriors of this Pandemic situation.

Port Blair, June 22: Along with the rest of India on the occasion of Shri Rahul Gandhi Birth anniversary on 19th June, 2020, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee in association with the District Congress Committee, Block Congress Committee, all frontal organisations such as Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Sevadal, City Congress, NSUI and elected representatives of Municipal Council, PRI members conducted various welfare programmes throughout the A&N Islands with the sole objective of alleviating the pain and suffering of the poor and needy people caused due to the crisis driven time of COVID-19 and also to strengthen the continuing efforts of Congress party in providing support and relief to the needy and suffers.

South Andaman Police Chalks Out Weeklong Programme to Mark International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Port Blair, June 19: The day 26th June of every year is marked as ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’. In order to observe this day in befitting manner and to aware the ill effects of psychotropic substance, the South Andaman Police is organizing a week long campaigns from 20th June to 26th June, 2020 in various Police Stations & Units of South Andaman District.

Port Blair, June 19: The Nodal Officer, COVID-19, Dr. Avijit Roy today confirmed that two new cases of COVID-19 has been tested and confirmed today in the islands. Roy further said that both the new cases are asymptomatic. Among the two is a wife of a COVID-19 positive case while another had returned from Chennai on 17th June 2020 to join the Ship. Both the cases are healthy, he said.

People Appealed to Practice Yoga from Home…

Port Blair, June 19: Yoga has recently become a very popular exercise form not just in the country, but worldwide. Yoga has benefits for the body and the mind and is an inexpensive, convenient, and effective exercise form. June 21 is celebrated as International Day of Yoga, but as we celebrate and observe the day when the whole world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has started a campaign called “Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family”, to encourage the practice of Yoga to counter the effects of the viral infection, as well as to stay healthy overall, while practising all precautionary measures.
