Mayabunder, May 16: The Chairman, District Health Society (DHS), North & Middle Andaman has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility by providing Tablets to all CHOs of North and Middle Andaman district to initiate the Tele-consultation services through e-sanjeevani app. The main aim of this initiative is to enhance healthcare access to rural population especially, the senior citizens and pregnant women and children of the district by leveraging technology, in which, Community Health Officers plays a very vital role.

The visit aimed to ensure seamless arrangements for the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha Elections- 2024 held in ANIPC on April 19, 2024.

Port Blair, May 16: SBI Youth for India (YFI) program is facilitating rural development by collaborating urban educated youth with communities at the grassroots. SBI YFI works on 12 thematic areas such as Health, Rural Livelihood, Food Security, Environmental Protection, Education, Water, Technology, Women’s Empowerment, Self-Governance, Social Entrepreneurship, Traditional Craft and Alternate Energy to drive impactful interventions with the youth who join them as Fellows. Among the 550+ YFI alumni driving impact with their interventions in the social development sector, Port Blair-based Sunita Das led a project focused on empowering community institutions for sustainable forest management. Assigned to the village of Som in the Jhadol Block by Seva Mandir, Udaipur District, Rajasthan, she addressed the village's needs. She established a Forest Protection Committee and involved youth, women, and villagers in plantation management. Additionally, she oversaw the transformation of four government schools into Green Schools through the planting of 100 fruit saplings each.

Port Blair, May 16: The INTACH Andaman & Nicobar Chapter with support from Directorate of Social Welfare has started a sculpting and clay modelling workshop for the children of the child-care homes under the Directorate.

The resource person for the workshop is renowned sculptor Shri. Promotho Mazumder, who has been a sculpting artist for the last 25 years and has made the islands proud by being the recipient of the Martand Singh Memorial Award this year.
