Port Blair, Aug 13: Every year on 15th August, the Nation celebrates its Independence Day with grandeur, gaiety, fervour and enthusiasm. This year too, the Independence Day will be celebrated in a manner befitting the occasion, however with some extra precaution and measures in view of the COVID-19 situation. In this regard, the Govt. of India has issued guidelines for the conduct of the Independence Day celebrations as per the COVID -19 protocols by ensuring social distancing, wearing of masks, proper sanitisation, avoiding large gatherings, protecting vulnerable persons etc.

This step has been bolstered with the support of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India under the Emergency COVID-19 Response Package (ECRP) which allows for temporarily hiring of specialized human resource for COVID-19 management in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In view of the increase in infection as well as to protect patients visiting G B Pant Hospital from unnecessary exposure to COVID 19, OPD services of G B Pant Hospital for minor ailments, have been shifted to the designated to Urban Health Centres w.e.f 7th August 2020.
