Port Blair, Aug 8: The Andaman & Nicobar Anganwadi Workers & Helpers Union has postponed the Mass Demonstration scheduled to be held today (8.8.2023) following the discussion held with the Director of Social Welfare, A&N Islands. The Director has briefed the Union delegation about the steps being taken by the department to settle the demands raised by the A&N Anganwadi Workers & Helpers Union.

Port Blair, Aug. 8: Two mobile health units christened ‘Vridh Ashray’, a first of its kind initiative under District Health Society, South Andaman and approved as innovative proposal by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under National Health Mission, Andaman & Nicobar Islands were flagged off today by Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner/Chairperson, District Health Society, South Andaman to provide geriatric health care services to the citizens of above 60 years of age group. Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, ADM (SA), Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, SDM (SA) & Shri Anand Vardhan Mishra, DANICS, AC (Sett), Dr. Munni Singhania, Director, DHS, Shri Sunil Kumar, Joint Mission Director, UTHM also graced the occasion alongwith other officials and Staff of the District Administration and State Health Society, A&N Islands.

Port Blair, Aug. 8: As an initiative to promote, foster sustainable and responsible tourism practices with a commitment towards preserving the environment and supporting local communities, the Tourism Department will be organising a comprehensive awareness and sensitization program for tourism stakeholder’s, unemployed youth/candidates on Aug. 18, 2023 in Govind Nagar, Gram Panchayat, Swaraj Dweep.

Port Blair, Aug 8: The State Unit of Pradesh Youth Congress, A&N Islands under the leadership of its State President Ms. Diksha Dular and Co-ordination of Vice-President Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh, General Secretaries Mr. Dakshin Bhasker, Ms. Kajal and Youth Congress leader Mr. Sudhamoy on Sunday held a Youth Coordination Meeting at Shaheed Dweep.

The main objective of the meeting was to prepare the youth for upcoming party programmes and to assign them responsibilities with proper guidance. The meeting began with a two-minute silence to mourn the unfortunate passing of two residents of Shaheed Dweep.

Port Blair, Aug. 8: The Government of India is committed towards ‘Anaemia Mukt Bharat’ and a worm-free future for the children of India. Worm infestations impair the nutritional status of the children. The nutritional impairment has significant impact on growth and physical development of children. In order to reduce the load of intestinal worms which is a major cause of Anaemia and related morbidity in the country, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in co-ordination with Department of Women and Child Development and Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India has initiated National De-worming Day (NDD) all over the country, where in all children and adolescents from 1-19 years of age are given de-worming tablet through the platform of Schools and Anganwadi Centres.
