Port Blair, April 17: In a ceremony held at Coast Guard Component HQs, Inspector General Neeraj Tiwari, TM, Commander Coast Guard A&N region, felicitated Mr. Ajin of Fishing Boat “Sorayya” on 16 Apr 24, for being eyes and ears of Andaman and Nicobar Command by providing valuable intel regarding Myanmarese poachers on 14 Apr 24.

In the incident IFB Sorayya was operating near Clinque Island, when it noticed an unfamiliar boat operating in the Indian waters. Mr. Ajin being a seasoned fisherman identified the boat as foreign craft. The fisherman immediately reported the matter to an Officer of Dept. of fisheries, who simultaneously shared the information with Coast Guard and other stake holders. Leading from this information, a coordinated operation was conducted which resulted in apprehension of foreign boat carrying 14 crew. This also led to recovery of substantial quantity of sea cucumber from the boat.

Port Blair, April 17: It is crucial to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process and to ensure the peaceful conclusion of campaigning and smooth transition to the voting phase, South Andaman District Police conducted night checking in the entire district of South Andaman to ensure the MCC is being followed and no violation is being done of the same.

On 17/04/2024 from 1800 hrs after termination of all campaign activities during the general election 2024, a team of Police officials under the supervision of Smti Varsha Sharma, IPS, DIGP(L&O) alongwith Smti Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP(D)SA , Ms Shewta K Sugathan, IPS, SP(PMF), Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO (SA), Shri Sandeep Lamba, DANIPS, DySP(DHQ) and Shri Vinay Mathur, DANIPS, SDPO(Bambooflat) conducted patrolling in South Andaman and Bambooflat Sub Division to ensure the observance of “silence period”.

Jaglan, IAS today held a meeting in the Conference Hall of Returning Officer for the final review of Election preparedness in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency. The Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, all Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) of HQ were present and ARO of outstation joined the meeting through VC.

Port Blair, April 17: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency will go for Poll on 19/04/2024 for Lok Sabha General Elections-2024 (Phase-l) alongwith other Parliamentary constituencies of Phase-l.

It is pre-requisite mandate on the Poll Day i.e. on 19/04/2024 to maintain sufficient signal strength for providing uninterrupted cellular connectivity in all the 412 Polling Stations spread over under this Parliamentary Constituency for ensuring level playing field towards conduct of free, fair and transparent General Elections-2024.
