Port Blair, March 16: The Department of Education, A&N Administration has invited entries for creating a Mascot for ‘Swachh Island Mission’. All students of Schools and Colleges have been encouraged to take part in the competitions by submitting their ideas /drawings/paint/sketch etc. on the mascot under the theme ‘Swachh Island Mission’. All College Principals, Zonal Officers/Principals/Head of the Institutions of all management schools have been requested to create wide publicity among the students and invite entries from the students. The winner of the competition will be awarded Rs. 25,000/- along with certificate.

Port Blair, March 16: Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, State President, Hindu Rashtra Shakti and HRS, ANI teams has expressed their sincere gratitude to the Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary, Secretary (Social Welfare) and Director (Social Welfare) for giving direction to all Departments under UT Administration, to form Internal Complaints Committee as per Section 4(1) of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 vide letter No. 4-100/ DSW / SHWWP/2013/616 dated 15.03.2023.

Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Mr. Mahesh Chander Roy S/o Shri Kala Chand Roy R/o Sippighat, who left for heavenly abode on 15.03.2023. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. 

Port Blair, March 16: The Annual General Body meeting of the South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association held at Auditorium of Tagore Govt. College of Education, Port Blair on 11th March, 2023 re-elected Shri H.B.Choudhary and Shri P.Jay Murthy as its Vice President and Secretary respectively while Shri Prasanth Vishwakarma was elected as the Treasurer of the branch. Besides 02 Joint Secretaries, 01 Office Secretary and 07 Organizing Secretaries were also elected in the meeting. Apart from this, Executive members from various schools of South Andaman area were also elected.

New Delhi, March 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised a significant issue in the Lok Sabha today, highlighting the exorbitant rates being charged from stretcher patients of Andaman & Nicobar Islands during medical emergencies.

He informed the Parliament that Andaman & Nicobar Islands are situated nearly 1200 KM away from nearest Airport in Mainland India-Chennai and Kolkata. For critical medical cases, evacuation in passenger aircraft is the only option and the family members of the patient have to pay Rs. 1,32,000 one way, excluding cost of tickets for patient attendants.
