Port Blair, April 18: In order to uphold the integrity of the electoral process to achieve the predominant objective by ensuring level playing field towards conduct of free, fair, peaceful and inducement-free elections, the Election Commission of India has issued strict Poll Day instructions on movement of vehicles and prohibitions on canvassing near Polling Stations & Candidate Election Booth, which have been summarised as under:

Port Blair, April 18: In the run up to Lok Sabha Polls tomorrow , and in our commitment to make the Islands Drug Free with the help of all stakeholders and continuing the momentum of our extensive drug destruction efforts , which had commenced on 16/04/2024, further, a total of 32.366 Kgs of Methamphetamine seized in 04 cases from various police stations was initiated at 1000 hrs today on 18/04/2024 by the CID Unit under the supervision of the UT Level Drug Disposal Committee chaired by Smt Varsha Sharma (IPS), DIGP (L&O). The committee members included Sh. Rajeev Ranjan (IPS), SP (CID), Sh. Mohd. Irshad Haider, (IPS), SP(HQ), and Kumar Abhishek, DySP (CID) along with the Officers from the A&N Pollution Control Board, Envirocheck (for measuring emitting pollutants), and GB Pant Hospital.

Port Blair, April 18: In view of the Lok Sabha Elections -2024 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, the Museums of the National Memorial Cellular Jail will be closed on April 19, 2024 to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the electoral process.

Port Blair, April 18: Elaborate arrangements were made by the Office of the Returning Officer, A&N Parliamentary Constituency for the distribution of polling materials to the polling parties on April 18, 2024. Distribution of the poll materials to the Polling Parties of Ferrargunj and Port Blair Tehsils which included Rutland, Badakhari, Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and Strait Island started from Netaji Stadium in the early morning itself. Polling Stations assigned to each Polling Party were also disclosed to the Polling Parties during their arrival at the reception counter during the distribution of polling materials.

Port Blair, April 18: The cargo vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Campbell Bay via Car Nicobar, Chowra, Teressa, Katchal & Nancowry on 23.04.2024 at 1500 hrs from Chatham Wharf/Junglighat Jetty and will sail for Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of Cargo at respective ports. Booking of cargo for the above sailing will commence from 20.04.2024 onwards between 0900 hrs & 1200 hrs at Commercial Wing.
