Port Blair, July 13: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) District Headquarters No. 9 (Diglipur) conducted a two day Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR) Workshop on 12 & 13 Jul 23. The Workshop was held to foster coordination and integration amongst stakeholders involved in Search and Rescue operations in sea area off North and Middle Andaman. The Workshop was attended by representatives of Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, North and Middle Andaman Administration, Fisheries Department, Port Management Board (PMB), Forest Department and Police Marine Force. The Workshop highlighted the role and responsibilities of each stakeholder and focussed on improving coordination between the stakeholders. During the Workshop demonstration of rescue techniques for vessels and crew in distress was also undertaken by the Coast Guard Interceptor Boats, off Diglipur.

Port Blair, July 13: ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker on Thursday morning visited the site of the fire tragedy that took place last night at School Line and enquired about the incident while going round the site.

Mr. Bhasker was accompanied by Mr. Ramzan Ali, Councillor, Ward no. 03 who had taken great initiative in helping the fire victims last night and also Mr. Y. Joga Rao, Councillor, Ward no. 14 and Mr. K. Karunanidhi, Councillor Ward no. 16.

Port Blair, July 13: CPI (M) has demanded to make available weighing machine on the spot of LPG delivery so as to enable the intending consumers to weigh the LPG cylinder before taking its delivery. In a letter sent to the Secretary (Civil Supplies), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee stated that reports have been received that weight of re-filled LPG cylinders being supplied by the LPG distributors is less in some of the cases.

Port Blair, July 13: In continuation of Road Safety campaign, on 11.07.2023 a Free Eye test camp was organised for the commercial drivers of Auto Rickshaw, Public service Bus and Trucks and their family members at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall in collaboration with GB Pant Hospital. More than 70 drivers availed the benefit of this Eye testing camp.
