Port Blair, Sept. 23: The National Students Union of India organised its State Executive Meeting on Thursday at Gandhi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Shri. M.A Sajid, NSUI State President. The chief guest of the event was Shri. Rangalal Halder, PCC President while Shri G Bhasker, Campaign Committee Chairman graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Special invitees were Smt. Shanta Laxman Singh, Senior Congress Leader, Shri. Mohd. Ali, PCC Vice-President and Shri. Noor Islam, Seva Dal Chief.

The meeting was called to welcome the newly appointed State office bearers and to formulate the future plans of NSUI. During the meeting, several points were discussed followed by compilation of report of previous programmes organized in different units and districts.

In addition to the organizational matter, the meeting also deliberated some of the burning issues in the education sector and took crucial decisions on further strengthening the party at the grass root level apart from discussing strategy for upcoming Municipal and Panchayat election.

M.A Sajid presented a detailed description of his tenure till now before the committee members. He also directed NSUI workers to propagate the ideology of the party through social media platforms.

Shri. Rangalal Halder while addressing the gathering appreciated the works done by NSUI in the Islands. "Today our party is in power but it doesn't mean that we should forget our responsibilities, we should be polite while speaking to public. One harsh word can impact the hardly earned image of the party. We all are here for the betterment of our Islands" he stated.

Bhasker laid stress on the importance of the organization and said that Congress does not have posts and positions like other parties, rather have responsibilities. He inspired the NSUI workers to work towards bringing change in the life of persons at the last end of the society. He said every NSUI worker should adopt the organizational style of working in day to day life so that he can do excellent in any field he will work in future.

Smt. Shanta Laxman Singh, asked the NSUI workers to put nation first, party second and themselves last. She informed that the objective of Congress is not to gain power but to build a prosperous and strong nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Mohd. Ali lauded the role of NSUI in the past Lok Sabha election in which students voted for Congress. He delivered his speech on the history of Congress and works accomplished during the Congress led Central Govt. He further stated that many youths in these Islands are consuming drugs and alcohol, which not only harm their health but also it's a great loss for our Islands.

In this meeting, all the State office bearers of NSUI were present. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri. Vishal Din, NSUI State General Secretary. The entire programme was coordinated by Shri. Saurav Nair, NSUI State General Secretary.
