Port Blair, Jan. 18: The One Stop Centre under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an online awareness session through zoom and emphasized on women empowerment, legal rights and about different women protection Schemes. Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), stressed on the importance of women education and its most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. The program was attended by PBMC Ward Councillor, representative of PRIs, general public, SHGs and staff of Child Helpline.

The online session was conducted with power point presentation templates in bilingual language (English & Hindi). The sessions were conducted by Smti. Santhi Murugesan, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre on Women Empowerment on Social, Educational, Economic, Political and Psychological aspects.

Apart from this, the session also highlighted on the One Stop Centre scheme, which provides integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence during distress both in private and public spaces. The One Stop Centres are functioning under one roof to facilitate immediate, emergency, non-emergency services, access to a range of services including medical, legal, minimum 5 days temporary shelter, Police assistance, psychological and counselling support to fight any forms of violence against women. During the session, the Landline contact number of One Stop Centre was shared with the audience and the provisions relating to Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013 which intent to protect women at workplace were discussed.
