Port Blair, Jan 29: On January 29, 2024, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Secretary, PBMC, accompanied by the Smti S. Selvi, Chairperson, PBMC alongwith the Ward Councillor of Ward No. 22, conducted an inspection of Ward No 22 alongwith PBMC officials. The visit aimed to address various issues and ensure the overall well-being of the locality.  Secretary PBMC emphasized the need to cover wells in the area to prevent contamination from external particles such as leaves, plastics and waste etc. The team inspected the major drain in the vicinity, issued directives to the sanitary inspector and relevant officials to clean the drain for unhindered water flow. Additionally, instructions were given to enforce fines in accordance with Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules for non-segregation of the waste.

The team also visited the Burning Ghat area, noting its suboptimal condition. It was directed the initiation of repair and maintenance activities for the Burning Ghat to enhance its overall state to utilize the space and beautification. Furthermore, bore wells installed across the ward were inspected, revealing non-functional pumps. It was directed for immediate repairs and reinstallation, setting a deadline of fifteen days for completion. The visit will continue in other wards as well aiming at Proper Cleanliness and waste segregation in the city along with proper water supply as per schedule and to review the ground implementation of various works under Civil, Water Sectors.
